SeaTrees - Indonesia
We joined the SeaTrees team in West Papua, Indonesia to visit their new mangrove planting project and shoot a short film with their planting partners, Eden Projects and SeaTrees ambassador Pacha Light.
The time on the ground (and in the water) gave us an opportunity to connect more deeply with the local community and understand their perspective. Shifting the communities understanding of their mangrove ecosystem has become a vital part of young climate activist, Benny’s role. We spent time mapping out a Theory of Change together and discussing how best Benny can engage his local community to start protecting & restoring their native mangroves as opposed to cutting them down for prawn farms, timber etc.
Our trip coincided with the first wave of Covid, which meant that on our return, we needed to revisit the script & make some tweaks to the voiceover so the messaging made sense and felt relevant to the SeaTrees audience.
The final film, Resurface featured music written by Pacha’s mum and performed by Pacha.
