Sustainable Surf - the Seaweed surfBoard
So stoked to share this film with you. The Seaweed Surfboard project came about by way of a catch-up call with good friend & long-time collab partner Michael Stewart at Sustainable Surf.
He asked me if I'd heard about this local engineering student, Charlie Cadin who was doing rad things with seaweed. Turns out Charlie was busy in his garden shed building surfboard blanks out of dried seaweed he'd collected from his local beach.
Incredible.
We caught up with Charlie & started documenting his experiments and then brought in Ryan Hervé, Gold EcoBoard shaper who added his wisdom & experience into the mix.
The magic in this story lies in the collaboration, the willingness to explore new ideas, to screw up & to try again. And the recognition that sometimes the very best ideas (and humans) are right in your own backyard.
Massive props to the team at Sustainable Surf for helping us bring the film to life, to
Luke Hosty for his creative vision, to Lloyd Yates for letting us use one of his tracks and of course to Charlie & Ryan for their incredible commitment to the project.
Cannot wait to see where it goes next 🌱🌊
