Ocean is Family animation
So much of the work we do at World Ocean Day for Schools is about translating complex ideas and making them simple, engaging and meaningful for kids (and let's be honest - adults too).
Our theme this year was Ocean is Family - describing the deep, interconnected relationship between people and the ocean. It reflects the idea that just as we care for our families, we must also care for the ocean and the life it supports.
Using this metaphor we created a range of three evergreen lessons for educators focused on the core principles of Ocean is Family (connection, good conversation & respect).
We worked with Jasmine Hortop to host art workshops at The Wave in Bristol for 85 underprivileged kids focusing on our theme.
And we created this beautiful short film in both English & Portuguese. The artwork & animation come from hours and hours of work from Luke Hosty & Peter Taylor-Gill (thank you both for your dedication & creativity to bringing this idea to life) and the voiceover from Mariana Cardoso (what a privilege to connect with someone who can do VO in two languages so effortlessly !).
Additional thanks to Dan Burgess for all your work on Stories For Life that inspired so much of this thinking. Gratitude always π«ΆπΌπ
