A blueprint for grassroots orgs
Hosted on the last day of UNOC (Friday 13th June), this workshop is designed to help grassroots organisations make sense of what came out of the conference and what it means back home. We’ll unpack the key outcomes, themes, and calls to action from the global stage and create space to reflect on how they connect to your local context, challenges, and priorities. Whether you’re working on coastal restoration, youth engagement, policy advocacy, or education, this session will help you move from “What just happened?” to “What do we do with this?”
In the second part of the session, we’ll shift from reflection to action. Through collaborative mapping, you’ll explore your community’s assets, networks, and areas of influence, identifying how your work can align with global ocean goals in ways that feel meaningful and achievable. You’ll leave with a clear and personalised roadmap for turning global ambition into local impact, ready to share with your team, partners, and wider community. Because the real work starts when we get home.
everything you need to know
Workshop Location - Ocean Basecamp, Green Zone
Workshop Date & Time - Friday 13th June, 11am to 1.30pm
Part One- sense making - now what ?
We’ll open with a high-level overview of the major outcomes and key themes from UNOC. Together, we’ll explore:
• What just happened?
• Why does it matter for us?
• How do we make it relevant for our work and our country?
You’ll leave with a clear plan for how to share and translate these insights with your team, community, and stakeholders back home.
Part two -mapping - global to local
This is where we connect the dots. We’ll support grassroots organisations to:
• Reflect on the role you can play within the wider ocean agenda
• Map your connections, assets, collaborators, and support systems
You’ll leave with a personalised road map for action, rooted in your community and current project, but aligned with global priorities.
